When I stepped into this role as Patient Chair for the Alabama Kidney Foundation, I knew I wanted to do more than just show up. I wanted to help raise awareness of something that affects so many people—often quietly and often unexpectedly.

And this is something I understand from personal experience. Kidney disease doesn't just affect one person. It affects families, relationships, and even financial stability.

The time, the treatments, the costs, the unknowns… it all adds up in ways most people don't see from the outside.

Having walked through dialysis and a kidney transplant, I know how life-changing this journey can be—not just physically, but emotionally and financially as well.
