I have spent most of my career working with transplant patients in general.  When I came to UAB, I got a front row seat to what patients with kidney failure go through.  Patients who are on dialysis are often not able to work.  This takes a toll on the mind and the wallet.  Funds raised for the AKF go to helping these patients with some of the most essential items - food, utilities, etc.
